Artwork by Maaike Smolnicki Photography by Samson Dell

23 Oct - 02 Nov Rice Pudding Gallery Wellington, New Zealand

“Your loss is mine” is a collection of oil pastel pieces exploring feelings of grief.

Inspired by her inner world, Maaike uses motifs from local waters, landscapes, and symbolic figures to visualise the quiet aches of loss. These pieces invite connection, conversations, and reflection on grief.

Although our stories may differ, we all have grieved and we all have lost. There is value in vulnerability within our community, not only for ourselves but for others too.

Maaike Smolnicki is a Polish/Pakeha emerging artist based in Pōneke, Wellington. She welcomes you with a warm heart to her first solo exhibition.
